I have an hour until my next class, which is "Expresión Escrita" (aka: Written Expression). So far I have had, History of Spain, Spanish-American Literature, Oral Expression, and Spanish Literature. My sixth class is Society and Culture of Spain. [Speaking of which, I literally JUST realized that I'm taking six classes. Whoops. We're only allowed to take five, so I'm going to have to drop one. Well, that's why my schedule feels so full! I think I'm going to get rid of Spanish-American Literature, the Profesora is my least-favorite and the class is already boring. Plus, I only need two Lit classes (and Written Expression counts...I think). Anyways, back to blogging!] I have three days of 9am classes, which only sucks because I have to walk about thirty minutes to get to the school from where I'm living. It's fine, except my legs hurt really badly. I'm so out of shape!
Last night, after spending four of five hours relaxing after classes, I went out with the other exchange students for Tapas. The guides brought all forty-or-so of us to one bar, so a lot of people stayed outside while the locals cleared out. It was fun, I hung out with two girls who I didn't know, one from London and one from somewhere in New Zealand. We also hung out with a girl from Japan, but she left us after we started speaking too much English too fast (along with the fact that there was really loud (American) music). Since I had a 9am class today, I left the bar around 10pm and walked back to the apartment. I didn't get lost, it was basically a straight shot, but it wasn't the nicest of walks. I don't remember the route my host mother took me when she brought me to the area the day before.
I forgot to mention, but yesterday after my classes, I successfully navigated a "Hipercor" (aka Spanish Walmart) for pencils and a notebook for classes. I'm very proud of myself :).
I haven't taken too many pictures in the past couple of days, my camera is pretty big to carry around to class, and there isn't anything TOO interesting in between my apartment and the school. Mostly just stores, bares, and people. However, I do have some pictures of the Universidad:
La Casa de Las Lenguas - where all my Spanish classes are |
Other Buildings on Campus |
Mini Park in the Middle of the City "Campus" |
La Biblioteca - The Library |
As a final remark, the time differences are throwing me for a loop. I can talk to my friends before I go to sleep, sleep for 8 hours, wake up, and (if they are up late ~2am) I can talk to them again. For example, mi novio forgot to send me my daily email around midnight his time, so he woke up at 1:45am and wrote me a letter. I woke up at 8am my time and checked my email. I had received that email from him 15 minutes before. If only I had signed on earlier...
*Besos*
Hi Rita--it looks nice and sunny there! I forgot to ask you if it is warm...
ReplyDeleteIt IS warm - but that is unseasonable. Normally it´s cold and rainy all the time in Oviedo. They are seeing the effects of global warming, as well, it seems. In the morning it´s about 35 degrees, and the afternoon has been around 50 degrees.
